In this article, we will teach you how to create a real job posting on Craigslist for your Las Vegas business.
Craigslist Las Vegas is an advertising platform where you can post a job offering available to people in Las Vegas and nearby places. The platform caters to job seekers who want immediate jobs and are preferably non-professionals, such as interns and students, yet are willing to learn and be trained.
Here are the steps to create a posting on Craigslist when you already have an existing account
1
Go to lasvegas.craigslist.org
2
On the upper-left corner, click “create a posting.”
3
Choose what type of posting you want to offer
4
You want to create a job offer, so tick “job offered.”
5
Remember that Craigslist is charging a $35 fee for every job listing.
6
Choose a category
Choose a category that is the closest and applies to your job posting. That job title will appear at the front end of your advertisement. After choosing, click “Continue.”
7
Fill-out the “posting title” box.
Titles must be compelling. It must indicate the job title and the kind of people you want to hire. Shorter posting titles attract more applicants since it is faster to read and can easily catch applicants’ attention. This is the first thing that people will notice.
8
Fill-out the “City or Neighborhood” & “Postal Code” boxes.
These boxes should describe the geographical location of your business. This will give prospective applicants an idea of how long their travel time is. The proximity of the job to their residence is essential. Hiring a person that is near your workplace increases efficiency and decreases delays in the everyday operations of the business.
9
Complete the description box
Indicate the following in the “description” box:
The number of job positions you need and what positions they are.
Provide flexible options—indicate whether the job is full-time or part-time.
Never forget to specify the number of working days and hours in a week.
The level of difficulty of the posted job should be mentioned— tell them that the job is simple so that they will not get intimidated.
Put a list about their job description or what specifically their job is all about.
Lastly, put brief terms and conditions in the box to give them a hint on what are the dos and don’ts of the job there are about to apply.
10
Attach an application form link
You can attach an application form link for them to fill out for any additional information you need. These details can be proof of clean criminal records, means of transportation, name, phone number, email, etc. Craigslist is just an advertising site where you can post available jobs. Therefore, you are responsible for interviewing your applicants or making forms for them to fill-out.
11
Complete the "posting details" section
Click the option that best describes the employment type— full time, part-time, “employee’s choice” if both, and/or contract. Check whether the job is an internship if you are willing to train the newly hired, or others like non-profit organization, direct contract, or telecommuting.
12
Indicate the compensation details
People search for jobs in exchange for a certain amount of payment. Indicate the starting rate you want to offer them or specify a range of compensation they must expect from you. You do not want your job listing to be ignored because of not indicating a compensation amount.
13
Fill-out your contact information
Email Address
An email address can be indicated in your contact information. However, it is recommended to tick the “CL may relay” button to ensure that your email address is protected. This is because Craigslist will serve as a channel for the applicant’s email to be relayed to you. There is no personal email contact between you and the applicant. Otherwise, you may choose “show my real email address” or “no replies to this email.”
Contact Number
Making your phone number known to applicants is highly discouraged. You want to make them fill-out the whole application form rather than just making calls with you. Also, this will save you from wasting your time and from screening too many applicants.
14
Accepting persons with disabilities
Below the “Location Info” section is a box asking whether you want to take applicants with disabilities. Ticking the box increases your job visibility since there agencies who will recommend persons with disabilities to you. However, if you do not want to do so, leave the box blank.
15
Review your job posting details
Review all the details you have entered before clicking the “Continue” button on the lower right corner of the page. If you have encoded some invalid information or have left some boxes unanswered, the system will indicate a reminder at the topmost part of the page.
16
Review your location
ZIP code is enough to know the proximity of the workplace from their residence. Adding street location, as well as the specific address, is optional.
17
Add images
You have the option of whether to add images about your workplace or not. If you were able to describe the job listing well on the description box, then it is fine not to add.
18
Review your encoded job listing
Make sure to review the information you have written on the job listings. Craigslist will give you an overview or a draft of how your listing will look. If you are satisfied with it, click “Publish” on the lower right corner of the page.
19
Verify job posting through email
You will receive an email after posting the job. Click the link attached to the email. It will redirect you to the Terms and Conditions of Craigslist. Click “ACCEPT the terms of use.”
20
Billing options
After clicking the “ACCEPT the terms of use” button, the site will redirect you to “billing options.” You can pay through your credit card. After paying $35, Craigslist will send a payment receipt to your email.
